It is with great pleasure that I welcome you, and your child, to P.S./I.S. 284, The Lew Wallace School. I would like to start off by welcoming you to the 2013-2014 school year! Whether you are new to the school or not, the wonderful thing about this school year is that we all get to start all over again. This year, I am looking forward to many new beginnings and I hope you are, too.
As the principal of this fantastic school, I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing with our students, working with our professional staff and of course you, our parents and community members. One of my top priorities is ensuring that every student is provided the highest quality of education possible, in a safe, supportive and productive learning environment. Working together as a team with our staff and parents, I am committed to helping each student achieve their very best, no excuses. I truly believe that every student is valued and worthy of our best effort.
I am privileged to be blessed with a friendly, hardworking, and genuine group of teachers and staff that care about the each other and most importantly. the well-being of our students. I have spent several days at school over the summer planning and organizing many events and new programs that we plan to implement this school year!
I believe that parental involvement is an important factor in the success of our students. Thus, I encourage you to consider getting involved with our students this year. We can use volunteers at school all the time! Give the school office a call and we will be happy to help you find an area you can help out in!
Looking forward to a successful school year!
Yours for the children,
Keva Pitts-Girard, Principal

Welcome back to a successful school year. I, Ms. Gina Bosmond have been the Assistant Principal at K284 for two years now. I am looking forward to greeting both the parents and the students back to a successful school year. It is imperative that we work together to bridge the gap between home and school. Parents, I encourage you to become frequently involved in your son/daughter education this school year. This school year, we are planning some great activities for our students to help them become learning productive scholars and life long learners.
In addition, parents I ask that you visit our PTA room and become a volunteer; if you have the time. We would like to increase our parent involvement this school year. In the month of October we will be hosting our Open House. You will be able to come and meet me and your son/daughter teachers. Once again, I look forward to seeing you.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation.
